Barú Indian High Estate Stream PhotographAll the Estates are located in the Boquete District and have altitutudes ranging from 1360 m to 2000 m over the sea level. Their soil is from volcanic origin with temperatures averaging 15 to 22 ºC and with a rainfall average on the region of 3000mm per year. Winds are North-South during the summer season with the Baru Volcano located to the west and the Central Mountain range to the North, making this the ideal location for the coffee activities.

Camiseta y Los Limones

Vidal and Eira Suarez start the coffee agriculture in the El Salto region, towards the top of the Barú Volcano on the region known as Camiseta. They planted the Típica coffee variety, which still remains as 80% of that estate today.

Later on they added the Los Limones estate and several smaller ones to expand the area. These estates are at an altitude from 1500m to 1700m above sea level. The micro-climate in this region is dryer during the summer season influenced by the northern winds, which find no obstruction whatsoever due to the lack of mountains around the area.

The administration of these estates entail sharing activities that optimize the production and maintain the quality of the soil, a very important characteristic for the cup profile of this coffee.

La Gloria

This estate was acquired in 1985 and is located on the Horqueta Region, named after the second highest mountain on the Central System – first being the Barú Volcano. This estate is 70% Tipica variety and 30 % Catuai and Caturra. This estate’s topography is very irregular, and provides not only spectacular views of the platation itself, but also breathtaking scenery from the Barú Volcano and the Central System. Due to the location, it also has a wide variety of flora and wildlife – such as white-neck monkeys, venison, rabbits and several birds native to the region.

It has four natural wellsprings, two that originate on the estate and two that run across. These qualities make the soil very rich in organic matter and very well balanced, chemically speaking.
